THE VILLAGE GROWS UP

During the 60's the town had around 7 families of farmers, coffee plantations and other farms. Around the 80's the town brough the need and the idea of build their own school. From this is how the community stared to grow in institutions like the healt center, church and the Association of Development.

Now the population is 5000 persons.The poornes is one of the principal problems in this place. Other issue is the quantity of alone mothers sometimes with few childrens. This cause that the mothers have to work and leave the kids with others persons like grand parents or neighbors.Today the town is trying to give a better inviroment with the construction of a place of recreation and sports that permit give other kind of options to the kids.

Facilitating this process it is the Tuetal Sur school's philosophy that in parallel with the academic improvement we need to stimulate the development of the human comprehension and the complete development of her or his personality. Eventually this will create an environment conducive to mental, moral and physical health, and thus the awakening in the children of a recognition and esteem for ethics, aesthetics and religious values. Ultimately we hope for men and women with a sense of responsibility, who love to work and are respectful for all humanity.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

The town starts to develop_____with the school. This little town is located 2Km of the center of Alajuela city and near to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. The road in this town is an alternating route between the center of Alajuela and the communities of the west.

The history of the school starts with the efforts of a man called Otto Clotti, who was trying to buy the ground for the school since 1978. It was until 1983 that finally the field was bought.

Before the school was established in 1989, under the government of Oscar Arias Sanchez, Premio Nobel de la Paz, the ground was used to other things like the construction of a church, a public hall and the police booth. The school's name is the same as the name of the community, which comes from a little tree called Tuete that used to be very common in the zone.

After 15 years of efforts, the school has become to have an adequate structure

for the development of the students. This happened thanks to the EDUCAR Foundation and managements of the principal mister Soto. Also, the school is the center to do recreating activities in the community. This, because there isn't infrastructure like football fields, pools or other places where to recreate. Nowadays, there are clear objectives to try to help the youth to have successful in their lives, because most of the kids come from poor and extremely poor families, and most of them will obtain only the primary, that's why the school has to be excellent.

OBJECTIVES

1. Improve the performance of the students developing a system that permits to reach the objectives in accordance with their academic, cultural and socioeconomic potentialities.

2. Encourage to the children the respect to their rights and duties, the civic, morals, aesthetics, religious, social, cultural and ecological values.

3. Encourage to the children in order to participate in the sporting and cultural activities.

4. Integrate the support organizations, students, parents, teaching and administrative staff and the community in general, to find the solutions to the problems that affect the institution.

5. Create a computer laboratory with the support of the EDUCAR foundation, to offer to the students a technology tool in agreement with the needs.

6. Strengthen with the EDUCAR support, to introduce the English as a second language.
